Decorated goalkeeper Pepe Reina has joined Aston Villa on loan from AC Milan until the end of the season. The 37-year old Spaniard is no stranger to playing in the Premier League. He was part of Liverpool between 2005-2013, accumulating 395 games for the Merseyside team.

Pepe Reina brings experience

“We’ve managed to secure a player in Pepe who has a wealth of Premier League experience,” Villa manager Dean Smith said.

“At the start of the summer, we were looking for an experienced goalkeeper and brought in Tom Heaton. Unfortunately, his injury has ruled him out for the rest of the season but Pepe fits our criteria not just because of his experience but also because of his leadership qualities.”

Over the course of his illustrious career, Reina has won the FA Cup, and League Cup, as well as the Community Shield. He has triumphed as European Champion twice (2008, 2012) with Spain and won the World Cup with his country in 2010.

On a club level, Pepe Reina has defended the colors of Barcelona, Villareal, Liverpool, Napoli, Bayern Munich, and AC Milan. He has 38 games for Spain’s national team and overall of 789 matches in his career with 323 clean sheets.
