Mesut Ozil is in talks with D.C. United representatives regarding his potential move the club in 2021, Steven Goff reports. D.C. United delegates were in London Tuesday for a meeting of players and agents. Arsenal’s midfielder was also present there.

Ozil has a year and a half left in his contract

The 31-year old German is under contract at Arsenal until June 30, 2021. He arrived at the club in 2013 from Real Madrid and has already featured in for 249 games for The Gunners, contributing with 43 goals and 76 assists. Ozil won three FA Cups with Arsenal, as well as two Community Shield trophies.

He has also played 92 games for Germany on an international level, having won the World Cup in 2014 and playing at the last three World Cups, and the last two Euro’s.

According to Goff, Ozil could be in D.C United in the winter of 2021, should the midfielder decide to play in MLS. The team was also linked with Real Madrid and Croatia star Luka Modric. For the moment, though, United went for bringing younger players with Edison Flores, Julian Gressel, and Kevin Paredes all arriving in the past week.

D.C. United start the 2020 MLS season on February 29 at home against Colorado Rapids.
