Judd Trump is out of the UK Championship in the third round, defeated by world number 98 Nigel Bond. The reigning World Champion had the lead twice during the game (2-0; 3-1) but ultimately failed to win after Bond won five frames in a row to secure his place in the last 16.
Trump won the UK Championship in 2011
The Ace secured his first Triple Crown title in snooker in 2011 when he defeated Mark Allen (10-8) in the UK Championship final. However, such a feature is now off the cards for the world number 1.
On the other side, Nigel Bond’s highest achievement in the UK Championship is reaching the quarter-final back in 1997. He showed tremendous focus and patience today, though and will be looking to progress further in the competition.
An interesting fact is that Bond turned professional in the same year when Trump was born – 1989. The 54-year old veteran has won only one ranking tournament in his career. He did reach the World Championship final in 1995 but lost to Stephen Hendry (9-18).
In other results from today, Stuart Bingham (Eng) defeated Zhao Xintong (Chn) 6-1 while Li Hang (Chn) won against Marco Fu (HK) 6-4.
