Real Madrid is planning to offer around $56 million, plus Luka Modric in an attempt to land defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.

Modric made only 14 appearances for “Los Blancos” this season across all competition and it’s understood Real would rather cut-off his wage from the budget. On the other hand, the Senegalese international has been linked with a major move for the last couple of seasons. So far, Napoli has managed to keep him in the club, but it’s uncertain whether they’ll be able to do that for much longer.

Modric + $56 million for Koulibaly

The 28-year old center back has previously been valued at more than $130 million, although at the moment he’s valued at $100 million. Luka Modric may be aging, but can still put up pretty good performances. He still has 18 months on his contract with Real and it looks like their plan is to offer him in a deal for Koulibaly, so that they can lower the defender’s price, as well.

Koulibaly has been at Napoli since 2014 and has so far amassed 231 games and 10 goals with the blue shirt. It remains to be seen whether new manager Gennaro Gattuso will be able to convince the player to stay in Napoli at least ’till the end of the season.
