Fabinho has been ruled out of play for the next six weeks, following ankle ligament damage he received during the Champions League fixture against Napoli. The Brazilian will miss the next 10 games for Liverpool. It’s expected that the 26-year old will return at the start of 2020 and will definitely be a big loss for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“Liverpool can confirm Fabinho suffered ankle ligament damage during the Champions League encounter with Napoli in midweek. Further assessment of the injury has discovered Fabinho will be out of action until the New Year.”, the club informed.

“The Brazilian will begin a rehabilitation program with the Reds’ medical team at Melwood as he works his way back to full fitness.”

Fabinho will be missed

The 26-year old midfielder has played 19 games across all competitions for Liverpool and has a crucial role in the center of the pitch. Now, “The Reds” will have to cope with his absence in the schedule-busy December, with them having to play 10 games.

Not to mention Liverpool will have to play with two different squads within 24 hours on two continents, because of their participation in the World Club Cup.

The current holders of the Champions League will face Brighton at home tomorrow. Afterward, they will travel to Bournemouth, then visit Austria for an important Champions League clash with Red Bull Salzburg. After that Liverpool play with Watford at “Anfield”, travel to Aston Villa for a quarter-final League Cup match, while only 24 hours later playing in the World Club Cup semi-final game.

On Boxing day, Jurgen Klopp’s side faces title contenders Leicester, before hosting Wolves on December 29 to end the calendar year.
