Javier Hernández, also known as Chicharito, and LA Galaxy are set to meet and discuss contract terms, according to AS. Reports from the past couple of days have been linking the Mexican forward as the replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who recently joined AC Milan.
Galaxy to spend big on Chicharito
It is said that LA Galaxy will pay around $10 million to Seville, plus Hernandez’s salary. This would make him the highest-paid player of the team, and the transfer fee would exceed the ones paid for Giovani and Jonathan Dos Santos – $5.5 – 6.7 million.
The 31-year old Mexican has been playing for Seville since September 2019, but he hasn’t managed to become a central figure in the squad. Hernandez has played 17 games across all competitions, scoring 4 goals.
He has a very good CV, having defended the colors of teams like Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, and West Ham. Chicharito is also the Mexico national team’s all-time leading scorer with 52 goals in 109 appearances.
LA Galaxy have already signed winger Cristian Pavon from Boca Juniors for $2 million. Emiliano Insúa, Sacha Kljestan, and Danilo Acosta all joined the team on a free.
