Edinson Cavani is on the verge of signing for Spanish team Atletico Madrid, Marca reports. The striker’s contract with PSG is set to expire in the summer, so the French giant might want to sell him now if they want to get a transfer fee.

Cavani lost his place in PSG

The Uruguayan international has been linked with a move away from Parc des Princes for some time now. He’s been frustrated with his role in the team, as head coach Thomas Tuchel admitted. And just a month ago, it was reported that LA Galaxy are on the hunt for the 32-year old’s signature.

“The transfer could take place in the coming days. In principle, the agreement would be for two-and-a-half seasons, although it is still up for discussion,” the report said.

Still, a deal for the striker in the winter transfer window would be subject to negotiations. He’s currently valued at 25 million and the Parisians could definitely use his services for the decisive part of the season, competing in both the domestic cups and the Champions League.

Cavani joined PSG in the summer of 2013. He has so far played 290 games for the club, scoring 196 goals, even though he’s only played in 8 this season. He’s won an incredible 21 trophies with PSG, including five Ligue 1 and four French Cups.
