Red Bull have extended Max Verstappen’s contract until the end of 2023 season. The 22-year old has been with the team since 2016

Verstappen is the youngest F1 winner

The Belgian-Dutch driver became the youngest Formula 1 winner in 2016. He won the Spanish Grand Prix then, at the age of 18.

“Red Bull believed in me and gave me the opportunity to start in Formula 1 which I have always been very grateful for,” Verstappen said.

Red Bull look determined to keep their driver, amidst rumors he may switch to Ferrari or Mercedes. Verstappen finished third last season’s championship, finishing behind Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Borttas.

“I want to win with Red Bull and our goal is, of course, to fight for a World Championship together. With the challenge of the 2021 regulation changes on the horizon, continuity in as many areas as possible is key”, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner told BBC.

“Max has proven what an asset he is to the team, he truly believes in the partnership we have forged with our engine supplier Honda, and we are delighted to have extended our relationship with him.”
