CM Punk appeared on WWE TV last night, taking part in the latest episode of WWE Backstage.

The long-time fan favorite, Punk was invited by the host Renee Young near the end of the show, exciting millions of fans when his theme song “Cult of Personality” hit.

CM Punk: “Just when they think they have the answers, I change the culture.”

Punk would be joining WWE Backstage as a special contributor and analyst, the WWE on FOX Twitter account confirmed.

He will be making special appearances in the show with regular hosts Renee Young and Booker T, starting from next Tuesday.

The two-time WWE Champion has been absent from the company for the past 6 years, starting a stint in mixed-martial arts. He did not have much success in MMA though, as he was crushed in his debut against Mickey Gall at UFC 203. We later went on to lose against Mike Jackson at UFC 225

CM Punk as a cult hero

Throughout the years, the now 41-year old wrestler managed to gain a cult following in the wrestling community. His infamous pipebomb promo, his 434-day world championship reign, and controversy following his departure from the WWE have all made him an established figure within the world of sports entertainment.

Undoubtedly, fans will now be wondering whether and when their hero will make his in-ring return.
