APSE commissioners’ meeting schedule set April 1, 2009

 The schedule has been finalized for APSE’s annual meetings with the commissioners and chief executives of the nation’s major sports organizations.

The hotel rate for the meetings on April 23 and 24, open to all members, is $194 a night. The deadline to register for the APSE rate is Wednesday, April 8.

Thursday’s schedule begins with a brunch hosted by MLS Commissioner Don Garber and his staff beginning at 11 a.m. That will be followed by meetings with NBA Commissioner David Stern, MLB Commissioner Bud Selig and USOC representative Darryl Seibel.

Friday’s schedule begins with a breakfast hosted by ESPN executives George Bodenheimer and Vince Doria, followed by meetings with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, NASCAR and NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.

Each session has a designated APSE liasion, listed below. If you would like a question, concern or issue brought up at the meeting, please contact the liaison.

A memorial service also has been scheduled for longtime ESPN publicist Joe Goldstein on Friday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the New York Athletic Club, 180 Central Park South (59th Street and Seventh Avenue) on the Ninth Floor. Editors are invited and should RSVP to joegoldsteinpr@mindspring.com.

APSE’s hotel, the Midtown East Courtyard, is located at 866 Third Ave. To register, call the hotel directly at 1-800-894-6380 or (212) 644-1300 and ask for the Associated Press rate. Rooms have been set aside for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
