Everett’s Kevin Brown elected Northwest Region vice chair Nov. 2, 2009

Kevin Brown of the Daily Herald in Everett, Wash., has been elected vice chair of the Northwest Region.

Brown replaces Don Shelton of the Seattle Times as region chair in May 2010.

Brown started his career as stringer for the Enterprise, a weekly newspaper in Lynnwood, Wash. His first job at a daily was at the Skagit Valley Herald in Mount Vernon, Wash., where he was hired as sportswriter in 1983. He was named sports editor of the Skagit Valley Herald in 1987.

Brown took over as sports editor at the Daily Herald in Everett in Octobor of 2002.

Monday, April 5 and Sunday, June 27 are the first two mandatory dates selected for the 2010 Associated Press Sports Editors contest, first vice president and contest coordinator Michael Anastasi announced Saturday.
